Hello,As the daughter of an elementary school teacher, the importance of education has been stressed to me for as long as I can remember.I grew up in Arkansas but attended Loyola University New Orleans as an undergraduate student. I then attended Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where I earned a Master of Public Health degree in Community based Health. With a continued thirst for knowledge, I attended Case Western Reserve University and earned a Master of Science in Medical Physiology. Currently, I'm a new resident physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology.I consider myself a lifelong studentand have always enjoyed teaching. While a graduate student at Case, I taught 9th grade English and was a part-time nanny for a 5 year old boy.I've tutored and been a mentor while being in medical school as well.In my free time, I enjoy doing anything at all with my husband and daughter. I am Tyler. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA with a bachelor's of the Arts in English Literature. I plan on furthering my education with a master's degree in ESL education. I have worked as a tutor as well as for the YMCA as a counselor, and I tutor after and before school now as a teacher. I am able to tutor your child in algebra, biology, ESL/ELL, essay editing, grammar and mechanics, literature, phonics, public speaking, reading, writing, and psychology. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and English: math because I enjoy the operations and the fulfillment you get when a problem is solved correctly and English because I love reading stories then discussing and analyzing them. My teaching philosophy is based around the student exploring the possibilities of their subjects and seeing as many way as possible to work through a problem. I think that students should be taught to look at their knowledge as a bag of tools that help them assess what needs to be fixed, if a student has a wide variety of tools they will be successful in conquering a problem, but if they do not possess those tools they need to be taught the skills to employ their knowledge to their work.

I just graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Texas Tech University. I am currently in the process of applying for dental schools and hope to one day become an orthodontist. I have an immense passion for learning, and the best way for me to learn is to teach. When I was in college I would always offer to tutor my friends in their classes, and I ended up doing this for the 3.5 years that I was in school. Every time I would see how I was helping them achieve their goals I would fall more in love with teaching. Now that I am out of school I still want to continue to be able to help people learn in a fun environment, so they can enjoy what they are learning. I have found my passion in the dental field and I hope to help others find their passion as well!

I love teaching! Even in the craziness of the pandemic, I am astounded at the resilience of my students and the flexibility of my colleagues. I would not want to repeat the past 18 months, but what I have taken away from it is knowing that I can make lessons engaging and entertaining, that games are a great way to teach and review content, and that building relationships with my students must be a top priority.I am a graduate of Fairfield University, where I majored in History and Education. I have a Masters' degree from the University of Connecticut in Educational Technology. I have been teaching 8th grade U.S. History for 17 years. Specifically, the time period I know the most about is early American history from the creation of the 13 Colonies to the Reconstruction Era.I also teach literacy skills throughout my curriculum, with a focus on reading comprehension, text analysis, and informational and argument writing. Clear communication skills - both verbal and written - are 21st century skills that all students can be successful with. Some students may just need a different approach, more time, or some extra practice to get there.

I am a PhD student in Animal Biology at UC Davis and am currently in the process of finishing my dissertation. I study the proteins that are involved in membrane fusion -- for example, when the sperm and egg cell membranes fuse together during fertilization. I have a Master's in Education and a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University. I love working with students of all ages and do my best to make learning relevant and fun.
