Recent Tutoring Session Reviews

Tutoring review by Andrew in East St. Louis, IL
In this session, we went over fractions, exponents, solving linear equations, solving systems of equations, solving and graphing inequalities, solving and graphing systems of inequalities, and function inverses. We spent most of the time reviewing inverses and fractions as she was struggling with this the most. I left her with several worksheets on some other subjects that we did not have time to get to. She was handling almost all of the material very well.

The student had two packets of review material. One covered translations and enlargements, which he had not learned yet. From that packet, I helped him go over as much of the material as he understood. The other packet involved enlargements of lines and areas, which he understood fairly well.

Tutoring review by Roger in East St. Louis, IL
I gave the student a 7th grade exam (30 questions) to find his strengths and weaknesses. His weak areas are ratios, unit rate, percentages, inequalities, and deriving algebraic equations. I will work with him on these areas and have worksheets for him to practice on his own.

Tutoring review by Kristof-Pierre in East St. Louis, IL
This log is for three sessions. [11/17] Student 1 had a quiz the following day as well as a worksheet. We got through the assignment pretty quickly, and he had little trouble when we reviewed. [11/18] Student 2 had now moved on to the elimination method. This was more difficult for him, as there were more locations for errors, in having to subtract or add negatives. He understands the method; he just needs to be careful. We also reviewed the substitution method. [11/20] Student 1 is now working on percentages and was given a worksheet to complete. After explaining each section, he was able to complete them with little problem. I also taught him some tricks and shortcuts to help him solve some problems faster.

In this session, we reviewed the student's notes and worked practice problems from older topics. I left him with some general questions to answer as he looks over his notes again for the next session.
