In 2013, I graduated magna cum laude from Berry College with a Bachelor of Science Honors (BSH) in Anthropology with minors in both biology and Chemistry. I also hold a Master’s of Science (MSc) in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. My dissertation research focused on finding a way to determine skeletal age at death from the microstructure of the human rib. I plan to attend medical school in the future in the hopes of becoming a forensic pathologist.I have worked both formally and informally as a teacher and tutor since 2010. While at Berry College I served as the Teaching Assistant for both General and Organic Chemistry for two and a half years. In this position, I taught students lab techniques and supervised the laboratory portion of the courses. I was also president of the Honors Student Union, and helped to implement a volunteer tutoring program that served underprivileged students in the local community. Since graduating from Berry College, I have been active in tutoring peers (both at the undergraduate and graduate level) as well as younger students in a variety of subjects including biology, chemistry, physics and math. I also specialize in improving academic essays and writing skills with students for whom English is a second language.

I started my engineering degree at a small private university (Western New England University), and I am currently a senior finishing my mechanical engineering degree at University of South Florida Tampa. After completion of this I plan to apply to law school to become a patent attorney.I have previous experience tutoring in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and Pre-calculus and I am currently certified to tutor in a wide variety of math up through Calculus 2. Furthermore I am certified to tutor in and a variety of physics and mechanical engineering classes.Calculus would be my favorite subject to tutor in because this is the core foundation of engineering problem solving. However, I enjoy a wide variety of different disciplines of math and physics.Everyone learns differently and traditional environments are not always ideal for all students. My approach is to identify a students strengths. Furthermore, I like to find out what a students current understanding of a topic is and expand upon the topic from this point.Outside of school I enjoy camping, backpacking, outdoors, concerts, comedy, and when not in Florida and back home, snowboarding.

For this purpose, I take advantage of a variety of pedagogical techniques to make my lectures interactive and to respond to the students' needs and abilities. I help all students learn essential concepts of the course and allow an open ground for students to communicate and share their ideas among the entire class. Beyond transferring technical knowledge, my endeavor is to foster critical thinking among students, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and enrich their intellectual strength, particularly in science and mathematics. It is also important for me to familiarize students with state-of-the-art engineering principles in both practice and research, and to prepare them in developing a future plan to enter the professional work place.

I have worked with students of all ages and have substituted taught middle school and high school science for about 5 years all in between completing medical school. I have a B.A. degree in Biology as well as Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). I tutor a wide range of subjects including the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in South Jersey, and a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan. I enjoy tennis, football, cooking, and a huge movie buff. My favorite subjects are Neurology, Psychology, and Psychiatry. My experience and skills show my passion for helping students understand the importance of reading and writing. I find that students best learn when they can connect what they are learning with something they enjoy (ex. using a student's love of comics to write about why Superman is better than Batman). I am passionate about English, Writing, and Reading because they are the building blocks of communication in society. During my free time, I enjoy reading books, exercising, playing board games, and watching TV shows and films.

During my practical experience in teacher preparation, I have worked one-on-one with kindergartners, first and third graders. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and am well-versed in best practices of teaching.I've been cleared to work with students in 3 counties (Hillsborough, Manatee, Polk), that includes fingerprinting and a background check. I also have taught officially for 2 years in grades K-7. Half a year I substituted, one year I taught kindergarten, half a year I taught in a learning center, and one year I was a teacher's aide. Currently, I am in my second year teaching second-grade reading. I hope my experiences qualify me for helping and connecting with students in a one-on-one manner.
