Nathan's AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 background means he's comfortable across mechanics, electricity, and thermodynamics — but his real strength is teaching students to set up problems before solving them. He walks through free-body diagrams, energy conservation arguments, and unit analysis step by step, so the math serves the physics instead of the other way around.

Working as an engineer in Fort Worth means Nate solves mechanics and thermodynamics problems professionally — the same force, energy, and motion concepts that make up the bulk of introductory physics courses. He's a hands-on problem solver who teaches students to restate each scenario in plain language before translating it into equations, which cuts through the intimidation of multi-step problems. Rated 5.0 by students.
Teaching physics in a Dallas ISD classroom every day means Adam sees exactly where students get stuck — whether it's setting up Newton's second law for a two-body system or misreading a velocity-time graph in kinematics. His 35 ACT confirms the quantitative chops, but it's the daily reps of watching students wrestle with force diagrams and energy bar charts that shape how he explains things. Rated 4.9 by students.
Cell and molecular biology might seem far from Newton's laws, but Salman's graduate training in pathology required rigorous work with fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and the thermodynamic principles that underpin laboratory instrumentation — the same physics concepts that show up in introductory courses. He approaches each problem by grounding it in a real physical scenario first, then connecting that scenario to the relevant equations so the math feels like a natural next step rather than guesswork.
Kinematics equations and free-body diagrams can feel like pure symbol manipulation until someone shows you what each variable actually describes in the real world. Richa's science-heavy academic background — spanning public health research and biomedical coursework — gives her a practical lens for explaining Newtonian mechanics, energy conservation, and wave behavior.
Running three startups requires the same kind of thinking physics demands: break a complex situation into variables, identify relationships, and solve systematically. Tanner applies that analytical mindset to kinematics, Newton's laws, and energy conservation, teaching students to diagram problems before ever touching an equation.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am a junior Mechanical Engineering major at Yale, and I hope to become a Naval Aviator after college. I am also a varsity sailor, and enjoy playing music with friends when I can get some free time. I have been tutoring my fellow students throughout my entire academic career, and I would best describe my tutoring style as one that adapts to each students' needs. For example, I have always tried to frame questions in a different way so that the student can better understand the question. Some students need visual representations of numbers and systems to understand them, and others benefit more by understanding the concepts behind each formula. I prefer to tutor in math and physics, and especially with real world application problems. I hope to help students improve their standardized test scores and their understanding of the math and sciences so that they can achieve their academic goals!
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Physics students often struggle with translating abstract concepts—like forces, energy, and motion—into concrete understanding. Many find it difficult to connect theoretical equations to real-world applications, and balancing equations or performing unit conversions can feel overwhelming without personalized guidance. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction helps students build conceptual understanding rather than relying on memorization, making the subject feel less abstract and more intuitive.
Your first session focuses on understanding your current level, learning goals, and specific pain points—whether that's kinematics, thermodynamics, or exam preparation. A tutor will assess your strengths and areas for improvement, then create a personalized plan tailored to your needs and timeline. This foundation ensures every session after that builds directly on what matters most to your success.
Yes. Tutors can help you understand the scientific method, design experiments, analyze data, and connect lab observations to theoretical concepts. Many Physics students find that working through experiments with a tutor clarifies why certain procedures matter and how results validate (or challenge) the physics principles you're learning in class. This deeper understanding strengthens both your experimental skills and your grasp of core content.
Expert tutors use multiple approaches—diagrams, real-world examples, interactive problem-solving, and step-by-step walkthroughs—to make abstract ideas tangible. For example, understanding forces becomes clearer when you see how they work in everyday situations like sports or vehicles. Personalized instruction lets tutors adapt explanations to your learning style, whether you think visually, kinesthetically, or through detailed reasoning.
Tutoring covers Physics at all levels—from introductory high school Physics and Honors Physics to AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C, and college-level courses. Whether you're working on mechanics, waves, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, or modern physics, Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who specialize in the specific topics and curriculum standards for Fort Worth schools.
Tutors work with you to master high-yield concepts, practice problem-solving under timed conditions, and identify gaps before test day. They help you develop test-taking strategies, review past exams, and build confidence in your reasoning skills. Personalized exam prep means focusing on your weak areas rather than reviewing material you already know, making your study time far more efficient.
Unit conversions and equation manipulation require understanding both the math and the physics concepts behind them—and many students learn these as separate skills. When you don't see how units relate to physical meaning, conversions feel arbitrary. A tutor helps you understand why units matter, how to set up conversions logically, and how to check your work, turning a frustrating process into a systematic skill.
Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who have strong backgrounds in Physics—including degrees in Physics, Engineering, or related fields, as well as teaching experience. Each tutor is vetted for expertise in the specific areas you need help with, whether that's mechanics, thermodynamics, or AP-level content. You get matched with someone qualified to teach your exact curriculum and level.
