As a student myself, I've found the best teachers leave lasting impressions that have shaped my approach to education for the better. I'd like to pay that forward to my students. I spent my senior year at Rutgers mentoring underclassmen Biology majors as part of the Biology Senior Community Initiative (BSCI), which was founded that fall by myself and other senior Biology majors to connect with underclassmen during COVID-19.Biology, English, and Algebra are the three main subjects which I tutor, although I am most passionate about biology. I have devoted much of my own education to biology, and hope to make a lifelong career out of it. Once you start studying the inner mechanisms of nature and ecosystems, you start to notice it every time you go outside. Something as simple as watching a trail of ants on the ground or listening to birdsong becomes enriched with understanding. English is always interesting to look at as well, especially poetry analysis. I like to think of it as solving a riddle, except many poems are written to have more than one "answer." The things you can do with the right words in the right places never cease to amaze me. As an instructor, my goal is to lift my students up. I consider myself more of a leader or guide to be consulted than an authority to be obeyed. I hope my students will be comfortable enough with me to ask for help when they need it, and to communicate with me about what they do or don't understand about the material. I do my job best when the student and I understand each other well.

When I'm not in class - as a teacher or as a student - I like to go for nature walks or watch documentaries. Sometimes I'll pick up a video game for a week or two. If Toby Fox developed it, I've probably played it at least once.
