My credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Exceptional Student education, a Master's in TESOL, Florida Elementary K-6 and ESE K-12 certifications, an ESOL endorsement, over 8 years of classroom experience, and several years of tutoring experience. The focus of my experience is in working with learners with reading difficulties. For the last few years I worked at a school serving students with language based disabilities such as dyslexia. There I learned how to teach students with language based learning difficulties based on the latest research and clinical methods. I attended Lindamood-Bell trainings on Seeing Stars and Visualizing & Verbalizing which helps all students learn how to read and improve their comprehension, and used these methods with success in the classroom and in tutoring. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to work with students with dyslexia, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, ADHD, physical disabilities, and speech impairments. These experiences have helped me become a well rounded and compassionate individual who is able to take each student's unique aspirations, needs, and interests into account, and create effective lesson plans and activities to accommodate them. I taught in Abu Dhabi for 3 years, and gained abundant knowledge and skills in teaching level 1 English learners, as well as early childhood. I planned and led English and Math lessons to children who did not speak any English. Using methods like sheltered instruction and student centered activities, the students learned English and subject area content.
