While attending the University of Utah I have sought out many different opportunities and programs that will allow me to become more well-rounded, work with people from all populations, find out what I enjoy, and apply the knowledge I have learned in school. Programs such as: UFIT- a program that works with kids with disabilities to help them grow cognitively, socially, and functionally; Worked in UNI- the neuropsychiatric institute; Currently work in the Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation unit at the University Hospital. Also, through out my undergrad I have gained experience tutoring from having a lot of my friends come to me to help them in the hard sciences I have already taken. In tutoring, I have found that the "eureka!" moment happens from going back to the basics, finding that disconnect of knowledge, and filling it in. I like to break down each component of the question and make sure my students understand what it's asking, what it's assuming, and how we're going to find our answer. Through my experience of teaching I have found that this way works the best. Being able to break down and translate the hard concepts into more common terms and analogies is what I think really breaks that confusion barrier and allows learning to start.
