Hello! My name is Mr. B and I am so excited to be part of Varsity Tutors!This will be my 20th year teaching! I have taught from ages 4 to Adults in various subjects like Math, English, Music, and Spanish (Yo soy latino!).I was born in Ecuador, raised in the US - Hometown: Miami, Florida. I have also lived abroad in countries located in Central America, South America, and Europe. I currently live in Texas. My wife and I have two wonderful children (boy and girl all grown up). We also have our little furball Pomeranian named "Dofe".I love teaching because love to make learning fun and exciting! I enjoy meeting new people! I look forward to meeting you!

I am a mechanical engineering student at UT Austin and I tutor a wide range of topics including general science, social studies, study skills and organization,and music though I am most passionate about teaching math subjects up to Calculus (AP/High school / College level), Physics (AP/High school/ College level), and Voice Lessons./Vocal Training. I am a firm believer in the power of education and learning and try to impart this to my students as well. Outside of school and work, I enjoy writing for the school fashion magazine, singing, and sketching.

For the last 20 years I've been employed in the investment business. I've been casually playing guitar for about 30 years and have built my skills enough to where I can share a fast track learning system.

After graduating from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor’s in Music Theory/Composition, I completed post-baccalaureate science and math courses, and then went on to study medicine for 2.5 years at Bastyr University. While I appreciate medical school for the challenges, lessons, and personal growth it offered, I recently left that program, realizing that my dream is to be an orchestral conductor. I am currently in the process of finding the right school for this undertaking.One skill I gained through changing careers twice is the ability to enter an area where I have no experience, and quickly acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for succeeding in that field. As a matter of fact, it is because of this background that I have developed study skills focusing around the act of studying itself. From having applied these skills in a variety of fields, I have seen that if a person wants to be able to learn anything, then they must learn HOW to learn.Through the roles of college tutor, private music lessons instructor, and choir director, I have worked with students in: anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, algebra, music (theory, instrumental, voice), writing, and more. While we do focus on different contents depending on the students’ needs, there are some overarching principles of learning that can be applied to the mastery of any subject. As a tutor, I focus on developing in my students an awareness of these methods, so that they are able to maximize their learning experiences.I love working with students to help them achieve their learning goals, and pick up lifelong learning skills in the process. I have spent the past three years working in Chicago Public Schools, earning my teaching license through The New Teacher Project, and developing my personal teaching style in two diverse schools with very underserved populations of students. Working for Chicago Public Schools for three years has taught me an enormous amount about reaching students who are deemed by many as "unreachable." I want to bring the skills I've learned as a teacher to a wider group of students through Varsity Tutors. Before deciding to get my teaching license, I received my master's degree in music cognition from Goldsmiths College, University of London, where I also worked for a year in an electroencephalography lab. Every day in my classroom I aim to learn as much as teach. Preparing the world's future critical thinkers is a privilege I take very seriously.

I an undergraduate Biology major at Drexel University. I am in the 8-year medical program at Drexel and plan on attending medical school in the near future. I am a straight-A student with a current GPA of 4.0.Some of my tutoring subject areas include algebra, psychology, biology, java, and elementary mathematics.I hope to spread the love of education to all who need tutoring so they can achieve their professional goals in the future.

I became interested in tutoring during college. I started tutoring biology, chemistry and writing. By my senior year, I was running the tutoring center and writing lab. Following undergraduate, I became a teacher's aid and substitute teacher in the public school system. A year later I attended graduate school, where I received my PhD in neuroscience. I have over 10 years of experience tutoring math, science, SAT prep, and sciences (including biology and life sciences).

I am an avid fan of innovation in the field of education. I want to teach others how to approach their study sessions with an understanding of how their brain works.This can equip students with routines that are customized for their current course load and academic goals. Making students' academic pursuits a sustainable lifestyle is my primary goal but I enjoy enriching their understanding of the universe and enabling their critical thinking.My students learn to understand proper time management and how to break down activities. I also like to make sure my students feel comfortable with analysis, editing, note taking, and other methods to give them a competitive edge. The fuel students should use is intrinsic motivation, enjoyment, and the thrill of delving into a topic they can use to expand their horizons or perspective on life in the 21st century.

I am currently a college student pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I believe in the saying, "If you're the smartest one in the room, then you're in the wrong room." I believe that education never ends and one should never stop learning. I have been tutoring math at my college since my freshman year and I love helping students understand mathematical concepts. I like to apply math to everyday concepts such as pizzas, pies, and shopping to make concepts easier to understand.
