I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.

I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.
I am currently a resident physician at Northwestern Hospital.
I am a new graduate of Pomona College, in Claremont, CA, where I studied Religion and Philosophy. While there, I wrote many papers of a wide variety, working on strong arguments, organization, and phrasing. I peer edited as well as volunteering with groups that mentored high school students, focusing on college admissions work, continuing and expanding my experiences from high school of tutoring for standardized testing. Additionally, I taught beginning violin to younger children.
I am a first year medical student at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. I have been a private tutor in the past in subjects such as math, biology, chemistry, and the SATs and every single one of my more than twenty students have shown significant improvement. Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching, and your needs and preferences as the learner will always be paramount. I hope to help every one of my students reach every bit of their potential, and along the way, to utterly shatter any self-induced limitations that have been placed upon what they can accomplish.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Logical Reasoning section makes up half of your LSAT score and tests your ability to analyze arguments, identify logical flaws, and draw conclusions. You'll encounter two Logical Reasoning sections on test day, each with 24-26 questions that require you to read short passages and answer questions about the reasoning presented. This section rewards careful reading and systematic thinking rather than outside knowledge, making it highly learnable with focused practice.
Students often struggle with pacing—trying to read too carefully and running out of time—or conversely, reading too quickly and missing logical nuances. Another frequent challenge is confusing similar answer choices or not fully understanding what the question is actually asking before evaluating options. Many students also struggle with specific question types like weaken/strengthen or assumption questions, which require different analytical approaches. Working with a tutor helps you identify your specific weak spots and develop targeted strategies for each question type.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and effort level, but most students see meaningful gains—typically 5-10 points—within 4-8 weeks of focused, personalized instruction. Students who start lower often see larger percentage improvements, while those already scoring in the high 160s may see more modest gains. The key is identifying your specific error patterns and practicing strategically rather than just doing more problems. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who analyze your practice tests to pinpoint exactly where you're losing points.
With roughly 90 seconds per question, most successful test-takers read the argument first, then read the question stem before looking at answer choices—this prevents wasting time on information you don't need. Easier questions (typically at the start of each section) should take 60-75 seconds, while harder questions may take 90-120 seconds. The critical skill is knowing when to guess and move on rather than getting stuck on one problem. A tutor can help you practice this pacing with real LSAT questions and develop a timing strategy that works for your natural reading speed.
The LSAT tests roughly 10-12 question types, with the most common being Weaken/Strengthen, Assumption, Main Point, and Inference questions. Each type requires a different analytical approach—for example, Weaken questions ask what would undermine the argument, while Assumption questions ask what the argument depends on. Understanding the specific task for each question type is crucial because the same answer choice might be correct for one type and wrong for another. Expert tutors break down each question type systematically and teach you the signature patterns and answer choice traps for each.
Most students benefit from completing 15-20 full practice tests during their LSAT prep, which gives you roughly 300-500 Logical Reasoning questions to learn from. However, quantity matters less than quality—it's more valuable to carefully review 100 questions and understand every mistake than to rush through 500. The LSAC has released over 80 official practice tests, so you have plenty of authentic material to work with. A tutor helps you review your practice tests strategically, identifying patterns in your mistakes rather than just moving on to the next test.
Look for tutors with proven LSAT expertise, ideally those who scored in the 160s+ themselves and have helped multiple students improve their Logical Reasoning scores. They should be able to diagnose your specific weaknesses quickly and teach you question-type strategies rather than generic test tips. For students in Honolulu, finding someone who understands your schedule and learning style is equally important. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who specialize in LSAT Logical Reasoning and can work with your availability to create a personalized study plan.
Your first session typically involves a diagnostic assessment—either reviewing a recent practice test or working through a timed Logical Reasoning section so your tutor can see your current skills and identify patterns in your mistakes. You'll discuss your target score, timeline, and any specific question types that frustrate you. From there, your tutor creates a customized study plan that prioritizes your biggest weak areas and builds in regular practice with feedback. This personalized approach means you're not wasting time on concepts you've already mastered.
