I am a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Master of Science in Animal Nutrition. I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Cornell University. While I tutor various subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring math and feel that our school systems often fail students when it comes to math. I do not believe that some people simply "can't do math." I believe that some may need extra time and help, but everyone can do math. With patience and hard work, any student can learn. I also enjoy tutoring Spanish, which I have studied since I was in elementary. During undergrad, I even studied abroad in Barcelona and lived with a host family. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, TV/movies, and knitting.

I am currently a neuroscience PhD student at Columbia University. I majored in English and Psychology from Brown University, with a 4.0 and honours in Psychology. Following this, I worked at a lab at UPenn for three years, slowly transitioning to software engineering and computational neuroscience.

I am an avid classical pianist, EMT, swimmer, and tinkerer. I love explaining things and paying forward my knowledge to those around me!

I am a current student at Princeton University, obtaining a major in English with minors in Environmental Studies and Musical Theater. I graduated from Sewickley Academy in 2016 as a member of the Cum Laude Society with highest honors for all semesters. I am an AP Scholar with Honors, an Academic All American, and a recipient of the Harvard Book Award. When on breaks from school, I take care of children ages 5-11 and teach them reading, writing, and mathematics. Though I enjoy teaching a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English. I have the most fun teaching students reading, writing, and grammar for test preparation and general school help. I believe that the ability to read and write proficiently is a foundation for a well-rounded individual and allows the student to have the best chances in any academic or employment field they may pursue. To be able to express oneself eloquently and concisely is essential for academic and personal success. This does not come without skill in logical mathematic thinking, however. I firmly believe that anyone can succeed no matter where they are in the educative process as long as they have the tools and strategies for efficient learning. The best advise any teacher gave me was "study smarter, not harder". There are strategies that take time to learn, but once mastered, studying and preparing for any academic venture become much easier. In my free time, I enjoy participating in musical theater, golfing, reading, and yoga.

I am a Sophomore at Knox College seeking a double major in Philosophy and Creative Writing. My favorite subjects to tutor are English, Writing, and Psychology. I also enjoy helping students prepare for the ACT and the SAT. I invest fully in each student. This means attentive listening, personalized study plans, and genuine care. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy writing poetry, running, and playing chess.

I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.

I am a graduate of Northwestern University with a BA from the School of Communications, GPA 3.6, with a specialty in Theater and Education. Since then, I have worked as an educator at the Rubin Museum of Art, tutored the SAT, regularly traveled to India where I study Tibetan Language and conduct independent research, and have written, produced, and performed in several music and theatrical productions throughout New York City. The foundation of my tutoring philosophy is personalization and understanding. Different students have different learning styles; some learn best by listening, some by seeing, others must do. To that end, I try to tailor my lessons to fit the needs of each individual student. Ultimately, I believe that the ability to excel in educational pursuits rests largely on mental strategy, organization, and skill, all techniques that are very teachable. While absorbing content is important, the way we look at the question being asked and the way we understand the test itself is just as crucial to success, especially in standardized testing. Therefore, no matter what subject I tutor, it is my goal not just to help the student memorize information and facts, but to lead them towards understanding the underlying goals and structure of the test or assignment itself. To this end, in my lessons I often incorporate cutting-edge mindfulness-awareness and associative memory techniques based both on ancient tradition and cutting-edge brain science to aid my students towards deeper understanding, increased scholastic confidence, and reduced stress. I specialize in SAT, SSAT, and SAT II prep for Math, Verbal, Writing, and Literature, as well as High School History, English, Literature, and Writing, any K-8 subject, and college admissions coaching. In my spare time, I compose music, write and direct theater, and perform around New York City.

I am currently a senior at Northwestern University and I will be receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies this spring. In the fall, I will begin attending law school at Northwestern Law. For many years, I tutored a wide range of students in Spanish, English literature, and writing. I have also continued to help many high school seniors with college application essays. I specialize in tutoring all standardized tests, including the LSAT, SAT, PSAT, ACT, GRE, HSPT, ISEE, Accuplacer, STAAR, TOEFL/IELTS, ASVAB, all AP/IB English and history classes, and more. I come from a family of teachers and was fortunate to grow up at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, where my anthropologist mom was Education Director. Since early childhood, I've been immersed in multicultural and ELL education. I've devoted my personal and professional time to diversity and storytelling, starting at public TV station WETA in my hometown outside Washington, D.C., where I was certified as a trainer with Sesame Street's Preschool Education Project. I've also taught creativity and teambuilding through improvisation to all ages (as well as creating a kids summer camp), reading for the SAG Foundations BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) program, plus reading and writing skills to at-risk students through the Park District's Kraft Great Kids Program. I've assisted many of my arts marketing clients, including Barrel of Monkeys and Kidworks Touring Theatre, with youth literacy programs at schools and libraries throughout the Windy City.

I am a graduate of McGill University (BA First Class Honors) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc First Class Honors with Distinction) with over eight years of tutoring experience. I am currently a curriculum developer for a company which creates relatable and culturally-literate courses for middle and high-schools, and am particularly adept at communicating and explaining concepts in a quirky, engaging, and intelligent manner.
