I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and I received my Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and International Economics in May 2020. Within this major, I chose the French language track and formally studied French for a decade. I spent my junior year of college living abroad in Paris, France, and studied at the American Business School of Paris.I am extremely passionate about education, in all aspects and for all ages. I understand that access to education is a privilege and I would love to use my educational background to aid others in their academic careers. I am currently working on becoming TEFL certified so I can travel the world and help others learn a new language, as I am especially passionate about language learning.My favorite subjects to tutor are French, Economics, and courses with a focus in international relations. I enjoy these the most, as I spent my college career focusing on these subjects and I am extremely passionate about them! I also love to work with younger students on subjects such as math, reading, and writing. When I was in high school, I used to tutor underprivileged first grade students in these subjects through my church.I was a lifeguard and swim instructor for two summers during my undergraduate career and developed skills in creating personalized lesson plans for students aged 6-13, with a focus on children aged 6-9 for their basic skills.

For the first two years that I was a chemistry instructor I was the youngest faculty member on campus and my classes would always be among the first to fill up. In my classroom, my colleagues would describe me as being the goofiest person in the room but it was something that I found necessary to connect with my students. Being a younger professor I remember what it was like to be a student and I remember the things that truly got my attention. I would teach my classes using superheroes, football references, mythbusters, and even relate some material to the school bus. In my office hours, I would be able to find out what interested the students and come up with an example that they would be able to understand. In the sciences, I believe learning should be as much hands on as possible and I used a variety of outside resources to teach various concepts, whether it would be using balloons, dry ice, tennis balls and paper wads, or even LIGHTING WATER ON FIRE. In addition to all of the chemistry subjects (up to a graduate level), I am qualified to teach physics, algebras 1-4, geometry, pre-calculus, and can do SAT and ACT math prep.Outside of the classroom I enjoy watching football and college basketball, going to broadway shows like the Book of Mormon, Wicked, and Monty Python's Spamalot, and going to comic book conventions. After experiencing DragonCon while living in the Atlanta area, there is nothing more fun than watching people dress up in Halloween costumes when it's not Halloween. Finally, I am an avid bowler and love to cook as these are my releases when I am over stressed.

I am a classically trained pianist with several degrees and extensive performing experience. I'd love to pass on that training to my students. I have had students participate in and won prizes in several festivals and competitions.

I have mentored my teammates in various software technologies while I was a mainframe developer. I have tutored kids from age 3 to 12 during my engineering days - I taught them Math Science and English. My favourite subjects to tutor are Algebra and Physics. Physics is really all around you. With subjects like Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus etc I believe its important to understand concepts rather than memorizing data/formula. A tricky problem can be simplified by reading the question multiple times, breaking it down into simpler steps. When I am not working, I love to spend my time doing yoga, workout, dance, cook and spend my time with my kids.

My husband and I have 2 sets of twin boys, ages 17 and 13. All of them have been homeschooled, although the older set is now being educated through other means. One has special needs and attends a private school specializing in educating and caring for autistic children with learning disabilities. The other has graduated and plans to attend Johnson University next fall, majoring in Nonprofit Administration.In addition to educating my own children, I have also taught music classes to 1st-2nd and 3rd-5th grades at the Learning Tree Co-op in Springdale, OH.My initial career path while in high school was to be a concert pianist. But that track was derailed when extended hours of constant playing created massive physical problems for my hands. Nevertheless, I enrolled at Cincinnati Christian University as a piano major and had the first of three hand surgeries over Christmas break my freshman year. I took on part-time teaching positions in music studios around the Cincinnati area beginning in my sophomore year. It was those teaching experiences that helped to segue my initial goal of stage performance to a passion for piano pedagogy and a desire to prevent other students from having to endure the same physical pain brought on by poor technique and misuse.Upon graduating from CCU, I enrolled in the Master of Music program at East Carolina University where my pedagogical studies focused on injury-preventative techniques for beginning and intermediate piano students. Following graduation, I opened my own private studio and became heavily involved with the North Carolina Music Teachers Association, serving as Vice President of the Greenville (NC) chapter.After 17 years of private studio teaching, I accepted a position at Cincinnati Christian University as Adjunct Professor of Piano in 2011. One of my favorite aspects of the job was having the opportunity to mentor students, both academically and in future planning. I resigned from the position in May 2016 due to degree changes and the dissolution of my job description.In my spare time, I enjoy playing piano, fishing, crocheting, cooking, learning about essential oils, and watching comedy TV and movies.
