Carpe Diem by Victoria - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
My goals for my senior year is to carpe diem. Being a senior is one of the busiest times with college applications, schoolwork, football games, dances, and graduation. This year is just one big balancing act that I hope to master. I have goals within my goal: win district in basketball, get into my dream college, and to graduate top of my class. Being a high achiever can steal the spotlight from my main goal: carpe diem. I'm trying to learn to live in the moment, especially with my high school and basically childhood coming to an end. I also run my own business which is a balancing act in itself. Lots to do, but lots to enjoy.
My motivation comes more from discipline. I'm a firm believer in the fact that you cannot be motivated 100% of the time, but consistency and discipline will be your defining factor in a world where the youth relies on motivation. My household also preaches 24/7 effort. There's no reason to do something unless you give it your all. So my discipline and work effort will be what "motivates" me to achieve my goals. I also have a very unique mindset of I will get it done, no ifs, ands or buts. If I have a plan to achieve a goal, I will show up and give 100% effort every step of the way.
In sum, my "aspirations" are more like goals with a plan to 1. win basketball districts, 2. get into my dream college, and 3. graduate top of my class, all with having a carpe diem mindset and my "motivation" to do so are my resilient effort and consistent discipline.
