My education changes by Rebecca - September 2025 Scholarship Essay

Education is significant for evolution in the coming years. As technology advances and global challenges emerge, the traditional way of learning must adapt. I want to explore the key changes I hope to witness in education over the next ten years, focusing on personalized learning, digital integration, mental health awareness, and inviting diverse backgrounds into school.

One of the things I envision is a shift towards personalized learning experiences. Right now, many educational systems still use the one-size-fits-all model for educating students. In the next decade, I hope to see widespread adaptive learning tools that adjust content and pace to an individual student's needs and learning styles. This would involve curricula that are flexible, allowing students to dive deeper into areas of interest while also focusing on specific learning gaps. Furthermore, personalized learning should extend past academics to include individualized support.

Another important change that is necessary, especially in this day and age, is advocating for more mental health services within schools, including therapists and support groups, to address the growing mental challenges students face daily. More schools should involve mental health education into the curriculum, teaching students coping mechanisms, emotional intelligence, and how to seek help. Teachers should receive more training on identifying mental health challenges in students and providing appropriate support.

COVID-19 and the pandemic increased the integration of digital tools in education, but the next ten years should see more of a flawless blending. I hope for universal access to high-speed internet and devices for all students. Beyond basic access, I envision VR experiences becoming common, offering interactive and engaging learning environments.

Lastly, I would like to include more diverse perspectives, histories, and literary works for various cultures. I believe schools should move beyond a Eurocentric focus to provide a more complete understanding of the world. Students and teachers can exchange programs with institutions in other countries to be exposed to different cultures and educational systems. Partnering with local cultural organizations and diverse community groups would bring cultural experiences and perspectives into the classroom.

The next ten years hold huge potential for education into a more lively and effective system. By embracing personalized learning, using technology, focusing on mental health, and bringing cultural diversity, we can create an educational landscape that truly prepares students for the challenges and opportunities of the world. These changes ensure that education remains relevant and empowering.
