by Maria - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

Entering my final year of high schools, I find myself reflecting on the times I have accomplished such as grades, honor societies and creating long-lasting friendships. My last year represents more than just an end of a chapter, but an opportunity to push myself academically and leave a lasting mark on my school experience. Among my top priorities are boosting my GPA, improving my class rank, excelling in my Advanced Placement Physics class, and most importantly, enjoying every moment of my senior year.
One of my primary goals is to raise my Grade point average. While I am proud of my academic performance so far, I know there is still time for improvement. A higher GPA not only reflects my dedication and discipline, but also opens more opportunities for college and scholarships. This year, I plan to maximize my study habits, manage my time more effectively, and seek help from teachers whenever I need clarification, it is a amount of hard work and countless hours of commitment to my education.
Besides my GPA goal, I am determined to improve my class rank. Attending a smaller private school means there is a strong sense of competitiveness among students. Even though this competitive environment can be challenging, it also serves as one of my greatest motivators. Knowing that every assignment, project and test directly impacts my position in the rankings pushes me to give my best effort in every subject. I view this drive not as a source of stress, but as a healthy challenge that motivates me toward achieving my goals.
Another key focus is my AP Physics class. Physics was a class I was determined to take because of career path I want to take requires science classes, especially physics. It is known for being demanding, requiring a deep comprehension of math, problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. I am prepared to take this challenging class by dedicating extra time to practice problems, participating actively in class discussions, and collaborating with classmates to deepen my understanding. Excelling in this class would not only be an academic achievement but also a personal milestones in mastering a subject that is truly necessary for my future college curriculum.
Beyond academics, I want to enjoy my last year of high school. Since I won’t get that time back with my friends I want to make the most of every memory that takes place this year. Whether that be the most anticipated events such as Spirit week, senior trips and most importantly graduation, but also the time I got to spend that time studying, having lunch, or simply just making each other laugh will be what I will truly cherish.
Ultimately, my goals for senior year stem from the competitive, close environment of my private school. The motivation to do my best, encourage by my peers’ achievements, inspires me to push myself beyond of what I am capable of. Boosting my GPA, improving my class rank, succeeding in AP Physics and enjoying the journey, I hope to finish my high school career with both pride in my achievements and gratitude for the experiences that shaped me.
