Clubs Are The Beginning Of Friendships by Lauren - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I was student body president, I would push for more clubs. Everyone deserves to know they belong somewhere and to find people similar to them. I would hope to impact each student by creating a safe for them to meet new people and enjoy their hobbies. Clubs can teach students lots of new things, provide them with community, and leave a big impact on the school as a whole.

Clubs can teach students so many important skills. It can help them develop better teamwork, leadership, communication, planning, and so much more. These skills are very valuable for future education and careers. My goal with implementing more clubs would also be to empower students to be leaders, even when they haven’t done it before. Furthermore, the diversity of organizations can provide students with new perspectives. They can learn things about other people and cultures that they didn’t know before. There is so much that students can learn and better understand through clubs.

These organizations can be used to raise the academic performance of the students at the school. By creating academically based clubs, students can be more motivated to study and do well in their classes. Additionally, creating a welcoming environment through the addition of clubs can raise school spirit and attendance. When creating these clubs, it is also important to connect back to the community. Through involving outside organizations and promoting local volunteering, the student body will be more engaged with their neighborhoods. These things will all benefit the school long-term and create connections that will last a lifetime.

These smaller groups provide a sense of community that doesn’t happen in larger classes. Students can connect on a personal level and spend time socializing. High school can be very isolating for many students, so encouraging bonding for students is crucial. The connections that students make in these clubs will be lasting and influential for their future. Similar interests can be a great way for students to meet like-minded friends. My biggest accomplishment in implementing these clubs would be knowing that students forged strong relationships and felt safe and welcomed at school.

I believe that creating space for more clubs and organizations would be the best way I could impact my school if I was the student body president. These groups can teach students useful skills, create lasting relationships, and be very influential to the school as a whole. Investing in clubs is investing in each and every student's future.
