How Technology Changed the Way We Learn by Kinlee - November 2025 Scholarship Essay

Over the years, technology has completely changed the way students learn in the classroom. I've seen how much things have improved since elementary and middle school. Back then, most of our learning was done through textbooks, paper worksheets, and lectures. Now, everything feels more interactive and connected. Technology has made school more efficient, engaging, and accessible, helping students learn in ways that fit their individual needs.

One of the biggest positive impacts technology has had on the classroom is how it makes information more accessible. Instead of relying only on what’s in a textbook, students can look up almost anything online in seconds. If we don’t understand something, we can find videos, articles, or even simulations that explain it in a new way. This makes learning more independent because students don’t have to wait for a teacher to go over every detail—they can explore topics on their own.

Another major benefit is how technology has improved communication and organization. Platforms like Google Classroom or Canvas let teachers post assignments, grades, and announcements all in one place. It’s much easier to keep track of due dates and submit work online instead of worrying about losing papers. Teachers can also give quick feedback digitally, which helps us fix mistakes and learn faster. Group projects have also gotten easier thanks to shared documents and online collaboration tools.

Finally, technology has made learning more engaging. Instead of just listening to lectures, students can participate in interactive lessons, use educational apps, or even experiment with virtual labs. These tools make learning feel less like a chore and more like an experience. Plus, technology gives everyone a chance to learn in the way that works best for them—whether that’s through visuals, videos, or hands-on practice.

In conclusion, technology has had a huge positive impact on the classroom. It’s changed how we learn, communicate, and stay organized. As a senior looking back, I can see how much easier and more enjoyable school has become because of it. Technology isn’t just part of education anymore—it’s one of the main reasons learning today feels so modern and connected to the real world.
