For the upcoming school year my aspirations are to have a solid foundation of coding,get straight A’s and create a simple video game.My motivation to achieve these is the end goal i’ll be reaching which is earning a computer science degree and making games for people to enjoy.
Since a kid, I’ve always been super into video games and the thrill it came with, something that started as a fun outlet and a way to escape the real world, now is my source of inspiration. I want to be able to give kids and adults the same feeling I got when I first started playing games.
What made me interested in computer science is my passion for video games.As time has passed , it’s been a way to better the futures of others and build friendships within a community of shared interests.
I remember playing games, most notably by companies like Ubisoft and Epic Games, that played a huge role in how I grew up and my passions. Not only did they create some of my favorite games, they also had the most diverse characters, from different body shapes,afrocentric features and hairstyles to Lgbt characters. Seeing a game showcase such a wide range of characters and features at a young age helped me feel seen and heard, especially when other games weren’t offering the same features. Now that I'm older and stepping into a collegiate level of education, I want to be on the other end, giving kids and adults the same feeling I got when I first started playing games. I want them to remember seeing someone just like them in the game.
I aim to create games that not only entertain but amplify and represent the voices of those who get overlooked. I want my games to have communities where everyone feels like they belong and can freely express themselves. I aim for my games to showcase real inclusivity, connect others through my storytelling and celebrate diversity. Beyond my love for gaming, my connection to computer science is personal. Choosing this path allows me to break the cycle of financial hardships. I want to use my learned skills to better the future for my family and open the doors for younger generations who are just like me. For me and many others, video games have the power to evoke people emotionally and culturally, and I aim to contribute to that growing influence.
Through my relationship with computer science, I aim to make a difference that goes beyond gaming and touches the hearts of others. I want to break boundaries, bridge communities and remind gamers why they fell in love with gaming. My pursuit of this degree is based on both passion and purpose, whether it involves creating inclusive environments in the digital world or motivating the upcoming generation of developers. I began my journey as a child holding a controller, and as a developer with a vision, I intend to carry it on.
