One academic topic that challenged me at first was mathematics, particularly when solving multi-step word problems that required analytical thinking and attention to detail. In the beginning, I often became frustrated when I could not immediately find the correct answer. I quickly realized that success in math was not just about memorizing formulas—it required patience, problem-solving, and the ability to think through challenges from different perspectives.

Instead of giving up, I committed myself to asking questions, practicing consistently, and seeking help when needed. Over time, I learned how to break complex problems into smaller steps and identify patterns that helped me reach solutions. This process taught me to approach challenges with a growth mindset and to view mistakes as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to quit.

As my confidence grew, so did my critical thinking skills. Mathematics taught me how to analyze information, evaluate different approaches, and make logical decisions based on evidence. These skills have benefited me not only in the classroom but also in leadership roles, dance, and everyday life. Learning to overcome difficulties in math showed me that persistence and hard work can turn a challenge into a strength, a lesson I will carry with me throughout college and my future career.
