Bakugou Katsuki by Hallie - October 2025 Scholarship Essay
A key lesson I've picked up from Bakugou Katsuki, a character in the anime and manga series My Hero Academia, is the importance of perseverance, self-improvement, and emotional management. At the start of the story, Bakugou is portrayed as a highly competitive and self-assured person, often showing anger and pride in his skills. His fiery personality and ambition to be the best can make him hard to get along with, but as the narrative unfolds, he experiences considerable development. He discovers that real strength isn't solely about innate talent or power; it's also about dedication, humility, and the capacity to learn from others.
One of the key lessons Bakugou imparts is that setbacks and failures shouldn't be seen as reasons to quit but rather as chances to become stronger. Even when he encounters numerous obstacles and rivals who challenge him, he maintains his motivation to better himself. This unwavering determination, along with his increasing self-awareness and readiness to accept assistance, demonstrates that even the strongest people must be open to change and personal growth.
Bakugou's journey also emphasizes the significance of managing emotions like anger and pride in a constructive manner. By learning to control these emotions instead of allowing them to dictate his behavior, he becomes a more effective and respected hero. This lesson encourages me to put in the effort, remain determined, and tackle challenges with a balanced perspective, understanding that personal development is an ongoing journey.
