Future Health Connect by Domonique - June 2026 Scholarship Essay
If I could create a project to improve my school and community, I would start a program called ¨Future Health Connect. The goal would be simple: help students learn more about their health while showing them the opportunities available in healthcare careers.
I chose this idea because healthcare has always been important to me. I plan to become a physician one day, and the more I learn about medicine, the more I realize that many people do not have access to the information or resources they need to stay healthy. Sometimes people are unsure where to go for help, how to build healthier habits, or what careers exist in the medical field. I would like to help change that.
Future Health Connect would be a student-led program that hosts workshops and events throughout the school year. Healthcare professionals could come speak to students about topics such as nutrition, stress management, first aid, and disease prevention. Instead of feeling like a lecture, the events would be interactive and give students a chance to ask questions and learn about things that affect their everyday lives.
One of my favorite parts of the project would be introducing students to healthcare careers. Growing up, I knew I wanted to work in medicine, but I did not always know what steps it would take to get there. Many students may be interested in healthcare but have never met a physician, nurse, pharmacist, or physical therapist. Through guest speakers, job-shadowing opportunities, and career panels, students could learn more about different paths and discover careers they may not have considered before.
I would also include a mentorship program where older students could support younger students who are interested in healthcare. Sometimes all it takes is someone encouraging you and answering a few questions to make a big difference in your confidence and motivation.
What I like most about this project is that it focuses on helping people in a practical way. It would not just improve our school; it could also benefit families and the community by sharing useful health information and connecting people with local resources.
I believe that when people have access to knowledge and support, they are more likely to succeed. Through Future Health Connect, I would hope to inspire students to take care of their health, explore new opportunities, and feel more confident about their future. Even if the project helped only a few people at first, those small impacts could grow into something much bigger over time.
