To Be All I Can Be by DeAnn - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

When I gave birth to my eldest daughter at 19, I promised myself that I would never give up on my college education. Now that I am 44 years old and both of my daughters are thriving adults with their own families, this is the perfect time to attend college. I've always desired to provide a better way of living for my family, and the only way I can achieve this goal is to earn a college degree. The driving force behind my decision to attend college as a middle-aged woman is to show my daughters that no matter what life hands you, you have a choice on how you will respond to the challenges you face. It's never too late to achieve a thing or to dream a dream if you believe in your ability to bring it into fruition. Inspiring my daughters and their daughters is my external motivation, and to achieve my highest potential is my motivation.

Getting an excellent education has always been an essential factor in my life, and becoming a business student at Wright State University will enable me to achieve this goal. This university provides me with a library reserves section that will allow me to check out books that professors put on reserve. This saves me time, which will enable me to focus on my studies to achieve my educational goals. There's also a life-size plane, flown by the Wright brothers, is displayed in the Dunbar Library on campus. Seeing something as cool as that adds to my ambition to do my best work in class and studies because one of my future life goals is to learn how to fly a plane.

I am confident that I will excel in my major of choice, graduate with honors, and pave a clear path toward success and achievements with my name on them. I have a strong desire to excel in my studies to prove to myself that I am capable of doing hard things. One of my main educational goals in the upcoming school year is to earn the highest possible grades in each course. This goal is merely a personal challenge to adopt an attitude of excellence as I enter into the upcoming school year. While seeking a better education, I aim to develop new ways to approach life in general because I genuinely believe that the way that you do anything in life is the way that you do everything in life.

I am looking forward to this new chapter as I embark on a new college journey that will improve me as a person and increase my sense of purpose. I know that this choice will be the change in perspective that my life desperately needs.
