This Year, I Aim Higher by Da'Riah - August 2025 Scholarship Essay

For the upcoming school year my aspirations include ending each semester with a 3.5 GPA or above, networking with other students and professors, and graduating with the highest honors, summa cum laude, as it is my last year of undergraduate. These are my aspirations because they will help me achieve my career goals of becoming a civil or human rights attorney and opening multiple law firms. Since being in college I have reached some of my aspirations so far, and I know I will continue to reach my aspirations this upcoming senior year. What motivates me to achieve my aspirations is me wanting to see myself successful in life, and I don't just mean monetarily. I want to build a better life than my parents had growing up, and one of the ways to do it is by earning a bachelor's degree in political science. After graduating in spring 2026, I will be the first female in my family to graduate from a four-year institution; this is another thing that motivates me to achieve my aspirations. Being at an institution like Howard University has made me realize that I can achieve anything if I just put my mind to it.
