As the new academic year starts, new challenges and opportunities are presented. For every new day that comes, more possibilities can lead to greater success. Last year gave me new jobs and volunteer work that I hope to excel in this year. Last year was my first full year of being a Resident Assistant in the dorms on campus. I worked hard to give my residents good experiences, and I also got more experience in leadership. This year I am starting strong again, preparing before the year starts so that I have everything I need lined up. With the end of the school year, I get the opportunity to apply for the apartment manager role which would grant me an entire 2-bedroom apartment in exchange for more residents and responsibilities. This opportunity would be one of a lifetime. 1 person for the entire campus gets this role. Being able to show my leadership even more and practice within my current role could help bring more.
With my academics, I also applied for the secretary role for our department club of the American Society of Safety Professionals. After I applied, they thought that I would be good fit for the President role. I get to start this year running this club which will bring me many different resources, networking opportunities, and expand my current knowledge of the world of safety. It is perfect timing for all this too as our department will be celebrating its 50th year anniversary and our school is celebrating its 125th anniversary. The stars seem to be aligning this year as more goals are falling in place.
My courseload this year will be some fun classes. I am excited to start really diving into specific major coursework as well. I am finishing up my internship now and luckily with the money I have saved up, I should be continuing another year without any debt. This goal of mine was set up before college started where I would hopefully finish my undergraduate degree with zero debt. So far, I have succeeded. This upcoming year brings many new experiences and will grow my knowledge, work ethic, and leadership. Hopefully I can continue to progress in my goals and find a favorable outcome.
