Power of integrity by Ashley - October 2025 Scholarship Essay

One of the most important lessons I have learned is from the book To Kill a Mockingbird with Atticus Finch, Through his quiet strength and his sense of justice, Atticus teaches the enduring value of integrity, doing what is right even when it is difficult. His character reminds me that courage never lies.

Throughout the novel, Atticus stands against prejudice in his community by defending Tom Robinson, A black man falsely accused of a crime, Despite facing cristisism fron his neighbors. Atticus remains in his belief that everyone deserves fairness and dignity. His decision to fight for justice, even when he knows he will most likely lose, demonstrates that ingrity is not measured by success byt by the willingness to uphold one another, From Atticus, I learned that ingrity requires standing alone, In today’s world, it can be tempting to stay silent in the face of injustice. However, Atticus’s examples inspires me to speak out when something is wrong and to act with honesty, even when no one is watching.

This lesson had shaped how I approach challenges in my life. Whether in school, outside, or personal relationships, I strive to my goals to make decisions based of fairness and empathy rather than convenience of feat, Atticus reminds me that integrity may not always bring reward but integrity build character and earn respect. His character guides me and to reinforce the belief that doing the right thing is never the wrong choice
