Preparing Students by Arianna - September 2025 Scholarship Essay

We are taught several subjects repeatedly throughout our educational years from kindergarten to our senior year. Courses that teach students about real world life skills may be more beneficial than repeating U.S. history, for example. I would like to learn how to balance a bank account, good money management skills, and how to be successful on a job interview. I think students would also benefit from learning how to deal with stress and the stress of being a teenager in the world of social media. A class that teaches good note taking skills and studying for tests would benefit every student.

I would also like higher education to be more affordable. There are not many careers that pay a livable wage with only a high school diploma. Student loans for four years of higher education will also keep may from owning homes or vehicles once they obtain a position in their career field. Many young people graduating from college and are having to live with their parents even though they are working full-time.

Preparing young people to be successful in life once they graduate and making college affordable for all students would benefit our society as a whole in our country.
