The student and I continued to work on the review assignments and quizzes assigned by his teacher. These have cut into our time for covering new material in depth, but they have extended the range of material that we cover in each session. This past session, the most difficult subjects we covered were Euler's method and slope fields, but after a half-dozen practice problems, the student had confidence to do these problems mostly without my help. He has an exam at the end of this week, so hopefully beginning next week we can cover the last set of integration problems before our final review for the test.

Math Tutoring review by Maureen in Philadelphia, PA
The student and I worked on simplifying expressions by combining like terms. The student continues to have a problem with adding/subtracting negative numbers, so I advised her to change all minus signs to plus signs and put negative numbers in parentheses. I am hoping this helps the negative numbers stand out and cuts down on her errors for this type of problem.

Math Tutoring review by Wan Wen (Jovana) in Philadelphia, PA
I checked over the student's weekend assignment. He was able to get the right approach, and solve it correctly. We talked about new topics today: 1) representation of function in power series, 2) integration and differentiation of power series. I had the student to do more practices on part 1 of the new topics. He's okay, he just need more practice. We'll do more problem drills for our next session.
