I am eager to help students thrive because I'm still very much a student myself, and will be for the foreseeable future. Though I enjoyed my time as an undergraduate student in Literature, and learned quite a bit during my time at Vanderbilt, there's still more work to be done. I am working towards a Master's degree, and will continue on from there.

I am a graduate of Northwestern University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in social work at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. I am passionate about tutoring because I want everyone to be able to perform academically at their highest possible level. I also think it is important that learning is not just for one assignment or one test, but rather that it sticks with you to build a solid foundation of knowledge and confidence that you can carry forward. My favorite subjects to tutor include English, SAT test preparation, math, and psychology. My approach to tutoring is to meet the student where they're at and go from there. I find that this way we can build a productive tutoring relationship where I can help individualize learning to each person's particular learning style. Outside of academic interests, I enjoy cooking, being with friends and family, traveling the world, and looking as ridiculous as possible doing Zumba.

I am a current law student at Washington University in St. Louis and also graduated summa cum laude from their undergraduate program in 2014. I have dual citizenship with the US and Chile, and my hispanic roots have always been very important to me. I grew up speaking Spanish but have also dedicated a significant portion of my academic studies to Spanish language and literature as well. I am passionate about helping others reach their goals and take pride in helping make the Spanish language and various Spanish-speaking cultures more accessible to anyone willing to learn.

I am a high school English teacher, currently working primarily with 10th grade students. I have previously worked at middle and elementary schools as well. I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2016 with a B.A. in English and Theatre. I then got my M.S.Ed from Northwestern. I have worked with children of all ages in various capacities, including teaching, and I find that the best way for students to learn is to have fun and engage them. I have extensive experience tutoring students in both math and physics at the high school and college level in one on one and larger group settings. I am passionately committed to educational access and helping young people reach their full potential. It has been my privilege to work with dozens of bright and talented students over the years, ranging from fifth grade to university level. I especially enjoy helping students with test prep and am qualified to teach all sections of the SAT and GRE, including math. I would also love to tutor in history, literature, and writing. I am taking time to explore my lifelong interest in teaching. I began tutoring at the University of Notre Dame, where I worked for three years as a teaching assistant in a Cell Biology laboratory course. There, I enjoyed helping my peers understand the larger picture developing through our weekly experiments. At Loyola University Chicago, I continued to tutor a variety of subjects while earning a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences.

I am a self-motivated, results-driven educator who enjoys teaching/tutoring students of all stages and from diverse backgrounds. I have a doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois, Chicago and over 5 years' experience teaching college level biology courses in classroom (as a teaching assistant) and in private tutoring settings. In my teaching/tutoring roles, I plan and lead discussion sections in Mendelian and Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology. I create worksheets and practice questions to help student prepare for exams. I also guide students to understand and master course concepts in the above-mentioned courses as well as in research methods, and dissertation writing . I have helped improve students' grades, self-confidence and study skills, in part through motivating students and practicing constructivist teaching/learning approaches.

I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.
