The student and I discussed his Spanish project that he will need to video record and then present to his class. For his project, he will record himself baking a cake in his home and will have to say the ingredients of the cake aloud in Spanish. I worked with him to translate the recipe, ensure that it was coherent and concise, and listen to his pronunciation to check that it was understandable. He was excited to prepare the materials for his project, and was accompanied by his classmate, who will also be in the video recording. Towards the end of our session we reviewed the differences between por and para, and the student seems to have improved in his comprehension of the various definitions of the confounding words.

We looked over the student's midterm study sheet (specifically chapters 1-3). This being my first time with this student so we spent some time getting to know each other while I also gauged where his speaking level and vocabulary limitation was. We reviewed months, days of the week, numbers and weather. I incorporated color coding and visuals that the student could use later down the road. I feel like the best way forward is to meet once a week and work on incorporating what he is learning in class into our conversations in Spanish.

In this session, we began by reviewing interrogatories and regular verbs. I then introduced the verbs querer and preferir, and we did some practice with those. New vocabulary covered included words about weather and places. We reviewed past vocabulary, specifically clothing and advanced numbers, and the ir + a + infinitive future tense. Time was also spent on tener, ser/estar, and adjective placement. I renewed my suggestion to utilize the language app for an interactive way to get reps. The student continues to be a pleasure to tutor, and we will meet again next week.

The student and I went over 10 vocab words she had to learn in context from a novel she is reading for class. We both guessed from the context and then looked them up in the dictionary. I checked over her math homework. She and I then redid a Spanish assignment she didn't understand the concepts for. She had to learn the words "le," "te," etc., in the sense of presenting a person to another and fill in the blanks. She gained clarity.

We began this session by reviewing days of the week and answering questions using the days of the week. We began learning verb conjugations, for words that end in -er. The student wrote out the conjugations for 6 different words. We then completed a few flashcard drills for vocab.
