How far can one go without knowledge?Knowledge is what makes humans superior to every animal and plant life around. It is not our strength, speed, or size that puts us on top. If that were the case; the lions, the cheetahs, and the elephants would be far superior to us. It is our knowledge and our implementation of it that sets us apart. We do not live only to eat, sleep, and copulate... We build roads, bridges, dams, houses, and hospitals. We set laws, standards, morals, ethics, and so much more.To change the world requires much knowledge and wisdom. We have a brain with the capability to better this world, not only for ourselves, but for generations to come.So how far can one go without knowledge...?Knowledge is something each and every one of us must go after, and we must acquire it (with patience) little by little. Just as mountains are made pebble by pebble. We must learn from those who know, and teach to those who do not. I am currently a student of knowledge and hope to be till my last breath. I see no benefit in hoarding knowledge, it must be implemented and shared. This is my life goal;learn, implement, teachA continuous cycle.-----------------------------------------------------"Not equal are the blind and the seeing,Nor are the darknesses and the light,Nor are the shade and the heat"Fatir 35:19-21"Are those who know equal to those who know not?" It is only men of understanding who will remember.Az-Zumar 39:9

I am an undergrad at the University of Chicago, having graduated high school at Jesuit Dallas. I am currently pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Math. I am interested in teaching as a possible profession, so I am planning to attend graduate school in a few years and planning to get a TA job in upcoming quarters. I tutor Computer Science, Math, and Physics, for Middle and High School students, and maybe college students in intro classes. I am most passionate about teaching programming because I find it to be a very useful and engaging skill; a lot of my friends at UChicago come to me when they have trouble working with Python or R, so I also have the most teaching experience with this field as well.I believe everyone learns differently, and I aim to be flexible to meet the different learning styles of my students. My general approach, however, emphasizes discovery and the learning process, rather than the rote memorization of rules and facts (this is why I prefer teaching Math, Computer Science, and Physics instead of fact-based domains like History and Chemistry). In my free time, I learn more about programming, which I apply in the context of programming competitions and game design. I also love playing board games with friends and family.

With over 13 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, my main goal was to understand and recognize student's personal characteristics, experiences, their self concept, attitude, level of anxiety, and study habits. I try to be a side by side guide to connect their prior knowledge with new information. I hope to get them to understand that they are learners, and that their opinions, ideas, voices, and comments are supported and valued. Along with teaching them, I intend to work with them so that they can assume responsibility for their own motivation, coping skills, and sense of control over life. Overall, I work as a facilitator of learning, assisting my students in the process of growing and enhancing their knowledge to better themselves in the future.

I absolutely love teaching! I love thinking of new, creative ways to communicate information so students can grasp the material and have that 'ah-ha!' moment. I especially love using hands-on materials or physical activity to help the learning sink-in and stick. My priority is to not only teach the student, but to get to know the student so I can be a more effective teacher. I recently graduated with my Elementary Education degree and I am so anxious to put what I learned to work. I also love being outdoors and being active. My favorite experiences growing up were going to camp, and I still love trying new things and being adventurous. I am a Kansas native but love to travel around the USA and see the sites. I am excited to get to know you and your child and to make learning fun!

It hurts my heart every time I see another student struggle with school work (especially math and chemistry), and that is why I wanted to become a tutor. I love helping other people, and I like the one on one sessions with students so I can make sure they are getting the help they need to succeed. I am a college student at the University of Texas at Arlington, I am pursuing a bachelors degree in Chemistry with a minor in Material Science Engineering. Although in credits I am a year ahead, which means I am technically a sophomore (and I am on track to graduate a year early), this is only my second semester in college. My teaching method is to not answer the question for the student but to ask them questions and bring up fundamental ideas in the subject so the student is able to answer the homework problem on their own. With this teaching style the student will become an independent thinker and will be able to answer a multitude of different problems by being able to think them through. This will also build a students confidence in the subject because the student will eventually be able to answer the question themselves without having to refer to notes which will make them feel as smart as they are becoming!

I love doing Math with all grades from Middle School to college. It started when I was in High School in 12th grade, when my principal asked me to review the 1st quarter program for students newly admitted. After completing my MS Degree in math at a university in France, I worked as an assistant professor at the Senegalese state university for nine years, during which I enjoyed solving math problems with students in calculus, algebra and trigonometry. Since 2009 I have been helping students as a substitute teacher in AISD and then FWISD. I am currently teaching as full time faculty at TCC where college algebra became my favor subject. I also enjoy teaching French as a language, since I used it from elementary school to college. I am a multicultural collection of African, French and now American cultures, cultures that have helped me adapt with any family and environment.

I earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston, as well as a Bachelor's Degree from Morgan State University, located in Baltimore Maryland. I majored in Math because, after trying out a few other majors, I realized it was the one subject that came easiest to me, and actually found fun. Even as a kid, I've always enjoyed solving puzzles and games. So, learning math was a way to apply my problem-solving talent and my love of logic.I'd say, I first realized I also had a passion for TEACHING math during my experience as a graduate teaching assistant. Thus, after finishing college, I'd often teach math as an adjunct professor. Eventually, I decided to go all in, and I taught math at a high school in Washington D.C. for a couple of years. I followed that up by teaching at a community college in the D.C. area for over a year. After that, I moved from D.C. to the Dallas Fort-Worth area (where I still reside), and took a short break from teaching. But the teaching bug wouldn't go away. So, in 2010, I returned to the academic world, and I obtained a full-time Math Instructor position at Tarrant County College here in DFW, and worked there for 10 years, where I grew both personally and professionally. One of my strengths is my communication skills, and over the years I worked hard to hone many of my explanations, to make them as clear and concise as I think I can. Some of the compliments that I've received from students I taught and tutored is that I'm patient, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.
