10th Grade Reading Tutor • +43 Subjects
Empowering students to steer destiny in the direction of their choice is my challenge as an educator.A well oiled classroom is imperative when you're in charge of 30+ students. The downside, however, is that some of those students will slip through the cracks if they are not given enough attention. Upon earning my degree in English Education at Illinois State University, I realized after my first year of teaching that most students in Chicago Public Schools were reading at least two grades below grade level.Thats when I decided to pursue a Masters in Reading to address the problem. I tutored K12 (all subjects) for three years to master the methodology I gleaned from professors before returning to the classroom. Since teaching is an art, I consider my instructional philosophy to be versatility in motion because learning styles and progress vary accordingly. Indeed, if I hadn't had the passion to empower students to be more than they thought they could be, I wouldn't have been surrounded by priceless smiles that kept me coming back.

Marine Biology Tutor • +1 Subjects
Hello! I am a recent graduate from Roger Williams University with a B.S. in marine biology and minors in psychology and theater. Currently, I am an intern with the National Marine Life Center where I help with animal rehabilitation and public education. My future goals are to go on to grad school and either research marine animal physiology or continue further with animal rehabilitation as a vet tech, while continuing with public education. While I have always loved the sciences, I've also enjoyed passing on what I've learned. I've had opportunities with public education through Grassroots Wildlife Conservation and now National Marine Life Center. In college, I was a chemistry tutor for three years and helped students get through the week's question set in a group setting. I have always found that when a student is given the right tools, they have always been able to arrive to the answer or the concept on their own. I try my hardest to be the one to provide the right tools. So whether you need help determining the difference between nudibranchs and nematodes or you need to know just what exactly is the deal with manatees, I'm your tutor!

Communication is vital in our world and learning a new language opens doors to endless new people, culture, travels, adventures, experiences and opportunities! I would love to help you take the next steps in your journey toward those goals.I minored in Spanish at university which gave me the life-changing experience to study abroad in Mallorca, Spain for 5 months. A few years after that, I was presented with the opportunity to live in South Korea and teach English as a Second Language (ESL) for 5 years to students ranging from 3 year olds to adult business-people and everything in between. I prefer to focus on practical, conversational abilities for my students (rather than nit-picky grammar and memorization), but will be thrilled to help you achieve your goals no matter what they may be.My hobbies include Ultimate (Frisbee), Running, Rock Climbing, hiking and anything else outdoors. Hope to work with you soon!

Adult ESL/ELL Tutor • +17 Subjects
I've been passionate about helping students ever since I was a student myself in middle school and high school. I used to tutor my friends and help them with their homework. After I graduated from high school, I got my bachelor's in Fine Arts from Tufts University and a CTEFL certificate from Boston Academy of English. For the past 5 years, I've been living and working in Laos, where I've had the pleasure of teaching so many incredible students. In my previous job, I taught English in classrooms, tutored individual students, provided online classes, and even helped to developed workshops in subjects like environmental protection, computer basics, and menstrual health. I trained adults to teach English as a second language and get comfortable teaching in front of a class, often for the first time! I have found that teaching English has allowed me to travel the world and make a difference in the lives of so many students, young and old! I hope someday to start my own English center and social enterprise here in Laos with my husband. When I was younger, I always dreamed of being an art teacher. Although it is not as useful a subject in my current location, it is one I'm very passionate about. I think art is an incredible form of expression and with more or more opportunities to earn money online through creative media, it's a great way to get a head start!
