About Me

I love helping students find their own uniqueness and truly begin understanding how their brain works to help them learn in the most effective way. In the beginning of my teaching journey I worked as a substitute teacher in a variety of schools around Queens, NY.The following year, I was a traveling science teacher for grades K-3.I also was a test prep tutor for grades 3-5 to prepare them for their New York State standardized tests. I taught 3rd and 5th grade full time in Queens, NY for 3 years. In the summers and on Saturday mornings I taught ESL to small groups of students in various Chinese schools throughout Queens and tutored struggling students in one on one sessions. After having my own children, I created a baby sign language business where I taught beginner American Sign Language Vocabulary through music and song in mommy and me style class to parents with infants and toddlers. I often recommend that parents teach struggling readers the American Sign Language alphabet because research shows that it helps students enhance their spelling skills. I also taught English to students in China on an online platform. I received my bachelor's degree in general education grades 1-6 with a minor in english and my master's degree in teaching student's with disabilities. Both degrees are from St. John's University. I also have an TESOL certification that I received when I began teaching online. I tutor all subjects in elementary school and I especially enjoy teaching reading, test prep, ESL and math. I believe all students are capable to progress in their learning when a love of learning is present. I love motivating students to do their best by incorporating their interests into our lessons. Currently I am a homeschooling coach. I have an online course and offer one on one support to help new homeschooling families confidently homeschool their children. I have 4 children of my own that I've been homeschooling for the past 12 years.
