I am an English teacher in Round Rock, Texas for students from grades 6-AP. My passion for teaching is rooted in my interest in my students and my desire to invest in them. In May 2017, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Biola University as well as a California Single Subject English Credential and Texas English Credential. These programs and my work in the classroom have been meaningful experiences for me to develop my skills as an educator. I appreciate the need to address my students' according to their specific needs and capabilities. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is adapting instruction to suit the students I am working with, so that I get to see the moment when lessons "click" for them.

I completed my BA at Yale-NUS College, a small liberal arts school established as a collaboration between Yale University and the National University of Singapore. I majored in Philosophy and spent a term as a visiting student at the University of Oxford. Most recently, I earned an MA followed by a Research MA in Philosophy. I am currently in the process of applying to PhD programs. Philosophy (western and non-western) and literature are my favorite subjects to tutor, as I love to engage with texts. I'm also enthusiastic about helping students with all forms of writing, including college application essays, and with standardized test preparation. I tutor the ACT and the LSAT, and especially enjoy the sections that involve reading comprehension. I love to help students develop skills in conceptual and textual analysis and become confident readers and writers. In addition to academic tutoring, I also love to teach yoga and am looking for more opportunities to do so. I completed my 200-hr yoga teacher training in India in 2018. My tutoring style is relaxed and warm. I am easy going and bring my light-hearted personality to my sessions. At the same time, I encourage students to realize their potential. I'm adaptable and easily adjust my approach to suit the particular needs, preferences, and qualities of each student. I'm always happy to receive feedback and make changes as necessary. Many incredible teachers, from family members to academic mentors, have instilled in me a love for learning and critical thinking. I hope to pass this on to the students I tutor.

I am currently a graduate level student that will begin work towards my Human Health and Environmental Systems MPH at Oregon Health and Science University in the fall. I held my first tutoring job in high school, where I spent after school and summers working with local elementary school students on reading, writing, and math skills. I loved the rare chance to see the look on a child's face when a tricky concept they had been struggling with suddenly made sense.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Everett has three school districts serving over 23,000 students across 53 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects students from all of them with personalized tutoring. Whether your student attends schools in Everett School District, Lake Forest Park School District, or Snohomish County schools, we can match them with a tutor who understands local curriculum standards and graduation requirements.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 16.4:1 in Everett schools, many students benefit from the focused attention of personalized 1-on-1 instruction. A tutor can work at your student's pace, identify specific knowledge gaps that might get overlooked in a classroom setting, and provide targeted practice in areas like math, reading, or test prep where individual support makes the biggest difference.
During your first session, the tutor will assess your student's current level, understand their learning style, and discuss specific goals—whether that's improving grades, preparing for the SAT or ACT, or mastering a challenging subject. This conversation helps the tutor create a personalized plan tailored to your student's needs and Everett's local academic standards.
Tutors who work with students in Everett are familiar with Washington State standards and graduation requirements, including proficiency expectations in math, English language arts, and science. They can help students master grade-level content, prepare for state assessments, and build skills needed for college and career readiness in alignment with what Everett schools expect.
Everett students work with tutors across a wide range of subjects, with many seeking support in math (algebra, geometry, calculus), English language arts, science, and test prep for the SAT and ACT. We also connect students with tutors for AP courses, language learning, and subject-specific help when classroom instruction alone isn't enough.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We work with families in Everett to find tutoring arrangements that fit their budget and schedule. During an initial conversation, we can discuss your needs and connect you with tutors at different experience levels so you can choose what works best for your family.
We take time to understand your student's goals, learning style, and specific challenges before making a match. Our process considers subject expertise, teaching approach, and availability to connect you with a tutor who's a good fit for your student's needs. If the match isn't working, we can help you find someone else.
Many students see progress within the first few weeks as they build confidence and fill knowledge gaps, though the timeline depends on the subject and your student's starting point. Consistent tutoring—typically once or twice weekly—combined with practice between sessions leads to the strongest results. Your tutor will track progress and adjust the approach as needed to keep your student moving forward.
