Tutoring review by Edward in University at Albany, NY
The student and I continued working on related rates. We did a variety of problems (geometric, speed, and volume) and focused specifically on changing angles and trig functions. The student is very proficient and has a great understanding of these problems. We will start working on the review packet next time.

On Saturday, the student and I worked on short vowel sounds and began working on long vowels. He struggles on this because it was the first introduction to it. We read 2 books and played 2 games. He also narrated a story to me and we worked on sight words for 10 minutes.

Tutoring review by Steven in University at Albany, NY
The student was preparing for a test in kinematics, so we covered a fair amount of material regarding one-dimensional motion in both the horizontal and vertical directions. She will definitely want to practice more with problems like this, but I think she picked up a few ideas that should help her with this exam.

Tutoring review by Yemi in University at Albany, NY
The student got a 100% on her most recent test. She got the highest score in the class. I'm glad that she is feeling more confident in the tests. She understands the material well, but there had been a disconnect when it came to the tests. However, we practiced a lot more piecewise functions and we took a short break to stretch so she doesn't feel drained. In this session, I helped her with solving systems of equations. It took awhile, because she was assigned a lot of problems. Afterwards I reviewed graphing inequalities and systems of inequalities. It was a short chapter, but can be tedious to do because of all the graphing. Her confidence definitely rose after that test and she is reading questions more carefully now so she doesn't make as many mistakes.

Tutoring review by Leondria in University at Albany, NY
Today the student and I practiced writing a summary and timed writing. First, she read a nonfiction text and wrote a summary about it. Then she chose a free writing prompt and wrote about it for 6 minutes. Afterwards, she revised her work.
