I'm easy going, I get along with most people I meet and I enjoy helping others out. I feel that knowing a subject and knowing how to teach said subject can be quite different. Being able to relate to different types of people and understanding different learning styles is extremely important and listening for comprehension, as a teacher/tutor, is a necessary skill that I don't see enough of. Knowing how crucial it is, I try my best to really listen and understand the learners point of view in order to make the most out of any teaching opportunity.

I'm a former student at Dartmouth College who teaches the SAT, English, Computer Science, IB diploma classes, and more. I particularly like editing essays. Currently, I'm working towards a Bachelor's degree in Finance at Portland Community College. I have been a formal and informal tutor over the last eight years. My philosophy is that there are always a couple of simple, crucial keys to success in any subject, and I'm looking to pass what I've learned over the years to students. I'm into politics (I'm a former government major), sports (especially basketball), video games, and reading. I have a good sense of humor and I get along well with just about anyone. Studying for all of this at once can be annoying. However, it can be fun if you let it. That doesn't mean it won't be work to master the topics BUT it means that it doesn't have to be painful.I spent my college career studying many topics. In undergrad, I minored in Computer Science and majored in Cinema Studies. Essentially, I love math and science but am also a very artistic person (and I really love film). To drive that home, my MFA is in Film Production. Both degrees were obtained from NYU. I received a 1550 on my SAT when it was out of 1600.My education career has been in the arts. I taught Editing at New York Film Academy and was the Chair of Post Production there as well. Throughout all of this, I have always kept my math and science skills sharp, mostly because I just love the subjects.

Through my experiences, I have continued to carry my passion for working with children and have developed my skills in making successful and individualized learning fun. My specific interests are in the realm of computer graphics and video game programming! I have had professional internships in Itential and CNN and have worked alongside skilled developers to deliver software. I hope to share my knowledge with students who are keen on learning about software development!

I have a passion for teaching. I have spent the last sixteen years teaching students of all age groups, including K- 12, college, and graduate students. I work well with students because I have the ability to make them feel at ease. In addition, I help students break down problems into simple components, which enables the student to understand how to go about solving any problem.

I graduated in December 2021 from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Statistics and a Master of Science in Statistics with a minor in Actuarial Science. I have always enjoyed tutoring since high school when I taught SAT prep to fellow students and basics of the Thai language to teachers. I have continued tutoring statistics and R programming throughout and after college as well. My approach to tutoring is to break down concepts into multiple, more digestible parts and provide multiple perspectives. I believe it is important to have an appreciation of what you are learning and to be able to explain what you have learned to others! My favorite subjects to tutor are anything related to both the theory and application of mathematics and statistics, but I am both open and interested to other subjects as well.

I am pursuing a degree in Anthropology, with double concentrations in Archaeology and Medical Anthropology & Global Health.
