I have been teaching and designing curriculum for middle school, high school, and college students since 2010. My curriculum and lesson plans are guided by the belief that every student has a unique set of talents that, when harnessed correctly, can be used to achieve even the most ambitious goals. I work particularly well with students who want to improve their reading and writing abilities. I make reading lessons understandable and interesting, and I love to share the writing strategies that helped me win my scholarships to the college of my dreams... and become its newspaper's editor! Are you more comfortable with STEM skills than reading and writing? My STEM-focused students often tell me that my lessons get them to see these language skills from an analytical viewpoint, which helps them use their natural strengths on reading and writing assignments. My test prep curriculum also includes strategies you may not have encountered anywhere else. You are the key to your own success, and together we can unlock any achievement you can imagine! If you want a tutor who listens to you, cheers you on, and shares school-proven strategies to enhance your learning, I am the right tutor for you.Basic Info: I graduated from Knox College in 2011 with a B.A. in Secondary Education. I have worked in the classroom with gifted students, students with learning disabilities, adult learners and English-language learners, so I have had the opportunity to hone my teaching skills to meet many different needs. Currently I am teaching 8th grade U.S. History in Oklahoma.

I am a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary (PreK to 4th grade) and Special Education (PreK to 8th grade). I had completed my student teaching in a kindergarten classroom and in a K to 2nd grade special education classroom. Since graduation, I have taught in a 3rd grade general education classroom and also as a high school emotional support teacher in a private setting. I have also worked for KinderCare Learning Centers, specifically working in preschool and transitional kindergarten classrooms. Currently, I am employed as a math specialist serving students in Kindergarten through 7th grade. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math and reading. Within all of my tutoring sessions, I provide a stimulating and structured learning environment, while also having fun to keep the student motivated! Education is such an important aspect in a child's life, and any child can learn. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and staying healthy and fit.

I first started helping students reach their goals when I was still in college. I worked in an intensive Japanese-language course during my summer breaks, teaching a year's worth of curriculum in only a few weeks. After graduating magna cum laude from The Ohio State University with a BA in Japanese and Linguistics, I spent time in Korea and Japan. For the majority, I taught in English immersion programs, teaching everything from phonics and essay writing to science and math. I had students of all levels: younger students who were still learning to read, write, and tie their shoes, older students attempting to enter international or American/British high schools and universities, and adults who wanted to brush up or continue to learn more.I enjoy working with students and seeing them learn and make progress. I like to think that learning anything can be fun. It all depends on the approach you take. During my time in Japan, I continued to study Japanese myself, passing the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency test. Preparing for the different levels of the test constantly reminded me of challenges people can come across trying to obtain a goal. When I have free time, I like to catch a new movie (or an old one that's new to me), take pictures, or head outside and see what I can find. I look forward to meeting you.

I carry a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and I'm applying to dental school. I'm a tutor at my university's learning center and have experience as a chemistry lab teaching assistant. My favorite aspect of tutoring is being able to relieve a student of their worries and assure them that they're completely capable of comprehending the material if they simply dedicate enough time to practice. I myself, was an average student in high school, however once I got to university I really applied myself and worked hard to get to where I'm at now. I started out taking basic classes and constantly going to the tutoring center as well as my professors' office hours. Building a solid base in these lower level courses helped me understand more difficult material in higher level classes to come. Once I started to take higher level science classes I was towards the top of the class in subjects like chemistry and physics (classes have 100-200 + students). Building a solid understanding of the basics is the key to success. I tutor general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, algebra and test prep for the DAT. I especially enjoy tutoring chemistry which I view as being the central science in understanding the fundamentals of how the universe works at the smallest level. I can confidently help students with the DAT having scored well myself (I can provide documentation of my score). When I tutor a student I first like to hear from them what they understand and then build from there. I find this is efficient because we don't spend time on something he/she already understands and can dedicate time to learning new information. I then like to walk them through an example or two and supervise them while they attempt some problems on their own. I truly look forward to working with you and just remember that you're capable of doing anything you put your mind to!

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University. I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Nutritional Science. I also received a minor in French Language. After graduation, my wife and I moved to New York City where I am currently working on my Masters degree in Human Nutrition at Columbia University in the city of New York. My plans include attending medical school upon completion of my Masters.I worked as a tutor at Brigham Young University for two years. During these two years, I tutored students in most science subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, and Nutrition. I have also tutored students in French. I took French 1-4 in high school and completed a minor in French Language. I also completed a study abroad to Paris, France. While working as a tutor, I have learned two things specifically that improve the learning environment. The first is that each individual possesses a unique style of learning. It is important that I understand that style of learning so that real growth can be accomplished. The second is that teaching and learning are not two separate activities. As a student teaches principles they are learning they are able to understand those principles at a deeper level.I was born and raised in North Carolina and I am a NC State fan. I love watching college football and basketball. I played football and soccer in high school and continue to play whenever a chance arises. I also enjoy spending time with my wife seeing the sites of New York City! I have five brothers and sisters and we all love getting together whenever can. I look forward to the opportunity to help wherever I can!

I am an English teacher based out of Miami, Florida. I went to Montclair State University, in New Jersey, to join their teaching program. Educating students is one of the greatest passions in my life because I love passing on my knowledge to others and helping them grow. I believe in growth mindset and a students ability to achieve their goals despite whatever obstacles they may face. Most importantly, I am very flexible in my teaching by molding my lessons around whichever learning style works best for each student. I love english language arts, writing, and analyzing literature! One of my favorite things to do is help students edit their essays and find their voice! I especially love teaching literary analysis and helping students foster critical thinking skills. I look forward to helping students learn new skills and feel confident in their ability to achieve their goals.

Greek Tutor • +7 Subjects
I received my B.A in Classics, with a minor in History, from Randolph College. Beyond Randolph I spent my junior year in Athens, lived out a summer studying Greek in New York City, and spent the winter of my senior year speaking Latin in Paris. My specialty is Greek and Latin, but I would relish the opportunity to tutor English and History too. With regards to experience, I have worn a number of hats as a teacher of the classical languages; I served as a student instructor of Latin at R.S. Payne Elementary School in Lynchburg, tutored Greek and Latin at Randolph for two years, and even substituted for my Greek professor several times for her 101 class.I am an ardent proponent of learning for learning's sake and that the classics is a gift open to everyone. Ultimately, I hope my students walk away thinking exactly the same thing.I dedicate my spare time to reading Herman Melville, buying books I don't have room for, finding the perfect movie, and listening to music.
