About Me

Learning is an ongoing process, and tutoring is the catalyst. In my opinion, tutoring andmentoring are two sides of the same coin. I have been in academia and in business for30+ years, working in Australia, New Zealand, Central Asia, Jamaica, China, Pakistanand in other parts of the world. My Undergraduate degree is in Economics, Graduatedegree is in Hospitality Management, and my PhD is in Curricular and InstructionalStudies. At present, I am teaching at the University of Akron's College of Business (AdvanceAccreditation Council Business Schools Programs), and School of Communication. These experiences have given me firsthand exposure to the emerging challenges andmolded my global approach in working with my students. I have learned that one of thebest methods to assess learning outcome (LO) is to first understand and identify theneeds of my students and focus on their strengths to motivate them. Students andtrainees (at all levels) have one common goal i.e., success in what they set out to do. Two basic questions that guide my teaching pedagogy are, how relevant is theknowledge of today for the graduates of tomorrow? And what do I need to do to workwith my students/mentees to create a trusting relationship? I look forward to working with my students to strengthen their confidence in publicspeaking, understanding marketing concepts and human resources practices, andinternational business. The process is often long and requires patience - there are nomagic bullets.
