Hello future Certified Nursing Assistants and Nurses! I'm Emily and I'd like you to consider picking me as your tutor! A little about my academic background; I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York's College at Brockport in 2013. Following my undergraduate degree, I couldn't wait to get into clinical practice, so I did just that. I later went on to attend graduate school at Excelsior University where I graduated with a Masters degree in Nursing Education. One of the highlights of my Masters degree was being selected to join Sigma Theta Tau, in acknowledgement of the 4.0 GPA I managed to maintain throughout graduate school.
I currently teach associate degree nursing students as well as certified nursing assistants in upstate New York. My experience in nursing education includes over five years of online and traditional curriculum development, enrichment support, teaching in various classroom settings, virtual reality simulation education, and writing sample questions for the National Council State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
My clinical experience is diverse, which benefits my students when assisting in content matter for tutoring even master's level nursing students. I've worked in Labor and Delivery, Case Management, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Psychiatry/Behavioral-Health, Forensic Psychiatry, Medical Surgical, Public Health, Patient Advocacy, LPN/RN/CNA Instructor, Course Coordinator RN Program, NCLEX tutor, and as an NCSBN test writer.
While my clinical experience is lengthy, my passion lies in helping students in the CNA, LPN, RN programs succeed! I enjoy being well - versed, and I keep current on all current clinical practices. I am very familiar with the RN and LPN standardized test plans. In my current role as an instructor, I've had students who have saved thousands of lives yet a large majority of them would emphasize testing was their biggest hurdle. Let me help you. Throughout my academic career I have not only possessed a love of learning but of teaching as well. As an educator, I've learned some tips and tricks when studying for your boards that might help make things 'stick', give you that 'AHHH' moment!!
One of the most enjoyable aspects of teaching is witnessing the light bulb moment! When it comes to my teaching style, I like to work closely with the student to figure out how all of the puzzle pieces fit together. I like to add perspective and my experience to the student's textbook knowledge, to give the student a holistic view. I've always told my students that getting a certification or surviving nursing school is hard work, and there is no possible way for you to review all the content you've ever learned, let me help you determine where your knowledge gaps are, to focus your studies! While, students are rarely thrilled about Next generation NCLEX questions, I can assure you, you won't regret a session with me, let's make learning nursing or caring for residents fun!
