About Me

I have an interesting background as I have over three years of teaching experience (grades 6-12 and college aged students). I have taught science (physics, environmental, chemistry, and sex education) to middle and high school students in Arizona, Nevada, and Florida. When I was in the classroom teaching, I was not a sit at my desk type of teacher. I was always walking around my classroom and had students in pairs or small groups. I feel there is no one learning style that fits all, each person is unique as are their learning needs. I stive to fit student's unique learning needs and capabilities by developing lessons to fit those needs to obtain that A-HA moment. I enjoy helping students because I genuinely have fun seeing the turning point of going from not understanding something to seeing the confidence of understanding a concept. Ultimately my teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn, it's just unlocking what helps a person learn a challenging concept. I also have tutoring experience as I hosted tutoring sessions when I was an active teacher. I also tutored fellow classmates when I was in college. I have had the opportunity to experience different universities as I moved around when I was in my early 20's and have taken classes at Arizona State University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of Washington, and University of Central Florida. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the University of Washington. I also obtained a graduate certificate in education from the University of Central Florida. Subjects I enjoy tutoring is anything science related! I have always loved science and it's something I have always been passionate about. From geology to space and everything in between, I LOVE it all. I have also always enjoyed reading. If you need help with a writing prompt regarding a character from a book, if I have read it; I can easily help you. I am open to a wide array of subjects, if there is something you need help with and if I have the knowledge in it, I would be happy to assist with your learning needs.
