I enjoy working with students to help them achieve their academic goals. I like to inform my students that they can be successful with any academic challenges they may have. Sometimes information needs to be explained in a different way, the student may need more time to process the information, or be encouraged to answer a problem (even if the student is not 100% sure of the answer). So, differentiated instruction and flexibility as an educator are important qualities to exhibit. I think that it is important for students to be able to articulate how they feel about what they are learning, what they don't understand, and how they think as they answer questions. Such dialogues help students to develop as more self -directed learners. I believe that empowering students, helping them to become self-directed learners and being a support system for them can immensely impact how they grow in their academic career.
