About Me

Have you ever sat through English class and your teacher went on and on about how to understand what you are reading and you don't even know what the teacher just said? I understand! I was that student long ago. I take pride in turning complex text and concepts into understandable strategies that lead to success as a student. I have been teaching English Language Arts in middle- and high school for over 10 years as well as tutoring students one-on-one and in small groups. My afterschool tutoring classes were full of games and laughter as we had the opportunity to find joy in learning in small group settings. I have a BA in cultural studies with a concentration in literature and writing from the State University of New York Empire State College. I also have an MS degree in Leadership and an additional 36 hours of graduate coursework in elementary and middle-grades education and writing.
