I am a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development with a focus on Early Childhood Education.

Since graduating, I have taught Pre-Kindergarten, 6th grade, 5th grade Reading, and 1st Grade - the last 9 years spent teaching 1st! While I have taught a broad range of subjects, my heart lies with the fundamentals of reading and phonics! I love seeing the growth students are able to achieve as they learn to read and the pride they have in themselves once they realize they are readers and writers. The "aha!" moments are one of the best parts of what I do!

I am a firm believer in the Science of Teaching Reading, the "why" behind the math, and being as hands-on as possible in science. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, reading, baking, and exploring our farm!
