I graduated from Barry University in Miami, Florida, where I received my Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology / Chemistry.
After graduation, I taught Medical Technology students and healthcare sales professionals in topics related to pharmaceutical products and blood disorders. Many times, this teaching was held in Latin America, totally in Spanish.
Having immigrated to the United States with no knowledge of the English language and watching my parents struggle to communicate, I quickly realized the importance of being able to speak conversational English in order to "survive" in a new country and improve the quality of life. These struggles spurred me to become certified to teach ESL to adults and children, in order to help them succeed and mainstream into society.
I believe the relationship between student and teacher has to be one of desire and interest on both parts. The student has a desire, or interest to learn; while the teacher has a desire and excitement to teach and share knowledge. Without interest there is no learning or sharing. I am versatile; creative and able to tailor my teaching style to my student's learning style. Whether I'm teaching Spanish, ESL, cooking or engineering, I want to share my enthusiasm in the subject so that the student will want to assimilate the information and be successful in their endeavors.
In my spare time, I like to cook, go on photography shoots, dance and read.
