I am a graduate of New Mexico State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. My studies there included extensive physics and computer science coursework as well.
While in college, I tutored many fellow students, which is how I got my start with tutoring. Since then I have tutored all ages of students, both in-person and online, in many math, science, and computer coding subjects. My tutoring style is interactive. For any student whom I teach, the goal is always that the student is able to work the problems and explain the steps. As professors of mine said when I was in school, "Math is not a spectator sport", and "You can't do physics without a calculator in your hand". When I teach, the student does as much of the work as he or she can; if stuck on something I will provide hints as needed, and I will only take over and complete a problem as a last resort.
My personal learning style emphasizes understanding over repetition, although I am very aware that this is not true for everyone - many students require substantial repetition in order to gain confidence and mastery.
Most of my spare time recently has been directed towards the development of a mathematically-oriented computer game, which I hope to publish within a year or two. In addition to game development, I also enjoy hiking, biking, camping, and playing chess.
Undergraduate Degree: New Mexico State University-Main Campus - Bachelor of Science, Mathematics
I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, chess, and coding. A perfect vacation for me would be a mix of all of these things. Of course such a mix is never going to happen, but it is a dream.
