Education is very important in today's world. I believe that there is always so much more to learn. And I believe that teaching is a joy, because as students learn, their world opens up! In terms of education, I have a Master's degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Marketing from the University of Connecticut. I have over 11 years of public school teaching experience as well as a year of teaching ESL online. I am a State Certified Teacher and also a National Geographic Certified Educator! I also have a 120 hour TESOL Certificate to strengthen my skillset. I also have a background in corporate America for about twenty years prior to teaching.
I love to travel and explore the world, and share what I learn. I have won two national teaching awards which sent me on Fellowships to explore and learn as well. For one I went to Iceland, for another I was honored to travel with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions to the Galapagos Islands! Both were incredible honors and so enriching! My teaching in the classroom focused on students in grades K through 8. Reading and Math are truly foundational skills. I love to teach students about the world around them and how what they are learning is relevant to life. I love being around children. When not working, I love soccer, basketball and to travel and explore the world! Some of my favorite places to visit are Iceland, the Galapagos Islands, St. John in the USVI, Banff, Canada, New England, Florida, and more. I look forward to teaching you!
