I am from the beautiful Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I migrated to the U.S.A. when I was 18 and began my career as an educator 14 years ago. I have always been passionate about education. It has been my lifelong goal to be a teacher. Currently, I am an independent contractor for VIPKID, China's most popular and exclusive online teaching and English company. I have taught more than 4600 online English classes. My certifications with VIPKID include reading, speech, writing, grammar, proper pronunciation, public speaking, book report, and TOEFL primary. As you can see I am very knowledgeable in online teaching and learning. However, my favorite subject to tutor is writing. My graduate degree (which I acquired as an online student) is in Teaching and Learning with Technology and I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Previously, I was a program lead at the Joint Reservist Base Fort Worth Child Development Center. At JRB Fort Worth, I was responsible for managing the center through several emergencies when my director was not available. I gained experience with administrative work and staff training during my time there. I am a proud military spouse and was honored to support families at centers located in Japan, California, and Texas where I was able to teach children from as young as three to as old as sixteen.
In closing, I would like to state that I am fully aware of the many challenges there are to learning. I have traversed these challenges and was able to successfully reach my academic goals even though I am a mother of three (my daughters are 19 and 13 and my son is 2 years old) and worked a full-time job.
