If I could be a student the rest of my life, I definitely would be. I completed my Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education at the University of Southern Mississippi, after which I spent two years teaching middle school and high school band full-time. I then completed a Master of Music in Music Theory at the University of Oklahoma, which is when I really started to work one-on-one with students in music theory. I believe we thrive as performers when we fall in love with music. Music theory is just a way of better understanding (and thus better loving) the music we perform. In my professional life, I am also an academic life coach and advisor, as well as a graduate programs administrator. I love to write and have been published both under my own name and under a handful of other pen names. I regularly present to my local professional organizations on topics regarding student success, particularly at the graduate level.

I love anything that involves crafting or creating! I regularly crochet and knit as well as occasionally sew and embroider. I'm a huge cat lover (although I only have the one for now) and enjoy watching television shows with positive LGBTQ+ / Queer representation.
