About Me

I'm a 4th year college student at Stony Brook University working towards a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a minor in writing and rhetoric. I love helping other students enjoy what they are learning by providing support as a tutor! Students who struggle in their academics often just need a role model who can focus on their individual learning style and encourage them to utilize it -- which is who I try to be each day. My goal for my students is for them to see past the challenges and enjoy the process of learning. I have over 2 years' experience tutoring kids in grades K-12 in math, science, English, and test prep, as well as helping fellow college students in biology, math, and chemistry. Examples of my expertise include teaching a class at an SAT prep center, private tutoring for K-12 both in-person and online, serving as head teaching assistant for college-level biology, and working as a chemistry peer tutor for other students at my university. I use a wide range of virtual games, arts and crafts, physical activity, virtual simulations, and real-world problems to make tutoring sessions engaging and appropriate to age level. As someone who wants to pursue research and teaching as a career, I believe quality, accessible education can have a huge positive impact on people's wellbeing and development.
