About Me

I am a graduate of both Duke University and University of Delaware. I received my Bachelor of Science at Duke in Computer Science and Biology. After graduating from Duke, I had several jobs involving teaching, including training adults on Microsoft Excel and Word and as a Science, Math and English tutor to elementary and junior high students. I also worked in Philadelphia as a standardized patient for a medical school. These jobs made me realize how much I wanted to be a teacher full time. I went back for my Registered Nursing Degree at University of Delaware, with the specific aim of teaching nursing once I had some experience. While at school I was a TA for Pathophysiology, Histology and I did some tutoring for Biology I. As a nurse I have worked in the Emergency Department, ICU, Surgical Unit, Medical Unit and in home health care. I had some experience in the medical field prior to nursing school as a student athletic trainer at Duke and a volunteer EMT for a Pennsylvania 911 ambulance company. For the past 7 years I have been teaching LPN Medical Surgical Nursing and NCLEX preparation. I have also taught Pharmacology, Leadership and Management and clinical classes. I am especially passionate about Medical Surgical Nursing. My time in nursing education has taught me that everyone needs a little help sometimes. No matter how passionate you are, it's easy to find material confusing or difficult to remember. I can help with study skills and test taking strategies that will help you not only with your current class, but future classes as well. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, bicycling and reading.
