I am a graduate of Wayne State University. My passions in my academic career included literature, phonetics and linguistics, and grammar in both the English and Spanish languages. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish. During my time as a student, I volunteered as a tutor of ESL to adults in the 1st and 2nd levels. I was able to help my students grasp English more fully by approaching lessons with an understanding of how difficult it is to learn a new language. I would provide new examples or ways to memorize. For students struggling with pronunciation, I was able to help with my background in phonetics in both English and Spanish. I have also tutored ESL in an elementary school setting. I enjoyed finding fun stories to challenge my students, but in a subject they were interested in. I would try to find engaging forms of learning that focused on what they were learning in class. I believe in education, and believe that knowledge is power.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, photography, playing the piano, volleyball, board games, and trying to teach myself the guitar.
