Hi! My name is Sonia and I am passionate about science, math, and English. I am a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied neuroscience and chemistry. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I have also engaged in multiple tutoring programs with students from second grade to the high school level. From these encounters, I have realized more and more that I really enjoy working with students of all ages as I try to support them to not only improve their academic performances in various subjects but also inspire a growth mindset and stimulate their desire to dream big. Overall, I believe in the philosophy of grit: passion and perseverance can be much stronger than talent if one embraces discipline and resilience in the long term.

Since I hope to become a physician in the future, I joined Varsity Tutors because I want to share my passion for academics, particularly for science and math, with many other students across the country. On top of this, I also have experience with and really enjoy essay editing for applications, so I hope to use my skills in this area and support students applying to universities so that they can present their best version of themselves to schools.
